Collation of results to commence by 6:00 p.m: INEC

The chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, has assured citizens that collation of election results will begin by 6:00 p.m.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Abuja International Conference Centre on Sunday afternoon, Mr Yakubu guaranteed citizens of the live transmission of results by 6:00 p.m. when it was certain the commission would have received results from collation centres across the nation.
“As we await the arrival of the scores, we will now take a break and resume at 6:00 p.m.,” the INEC chair said. “We are certain that at 6:00 p.m., one or two of the scores will arrive with the results. So we begin the process of collation.”
The INEC Chairman also enjoined citizens to rely only on the commission for authentic scores.
“I appeal to all political parties and media organisations to draw their figures only from the official results released by the commission as the only body constitutionally responsible for releasing official election figures.”
