Committee inspects Singer Market, pledges transparency in fund disbursement

The Fund Distribution Committee for the Singer Market fire victims has assessed the damage and pledged transparent distribution of support funds.
The committee, led by the secretary to the state government, Umar Faruk, assured fairness and justice in the process.
Mr Faruk assured the victims that justice and fairness would be strictly observed in the distribution of funds meant to cushion their losses.
He emphasised that the committee was committed to ensuring that only genuine victims benefit from the intervention.
The SSG appealed to the affected traders to provide accurate declarations of their losses to enable the committee carry out its assignment effectively.
According to him, truthful documentation of damages will help prevent disputes and ensure equitable allocation of the available resources among victims.
The chairman of Singer Market, Mohammad Junaid, disclosed that anti-corruption agencies and security operatives were incorporated into the committee to strengthen accountability.
He reassured the business community that the funds would be utilised judiciously and that measures were in place to prevent any form of malpractice during disbursement.
ACP Jauro, the representative of the commissioner of police, stated that the Nigeria Police Force would maintain security at Singer Market to protect lives and property.
On his part, Ado Kurawa conveyed the Kano Emirate’s sympathy to the affected traders and urged cooperation with the committee.
