The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has unveiled Nigeria’s artificial intelligence policy while also seeking the participation of the country’s experts on the project.

In a tweet Monday, Mr Tijani called for top researchers of Nigerian and other descent worldwide to help create a national AI strategy.

According to him, the strategy will help shape Nigeria’s approach to building innovative tech solutions to its most pressing national problems.

The AI policy unveiled by Mr Tijani and his team explained how AI would benefit Nigeria and Africa in the long run, based on predictions by experts.

The policy stipulates that a National AI strategy for Nigeria would steer the AI revolution toward achieving job creation, social inclusion, and sustainable development.

The ministry hopes to build on the work done by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in developing the strategy.

To achieve this feat, Mr Tijani and his team will employ McKinsey methodology to obtain all articles in the field of AI, where the author’s affiliate institutions are in Nigeria.

In addition, they also trained their research models to identify Nigerian names for easy identification of AI researchers.
