Consensus Candidacy: Tinubu-endorsed Ogun APC governorship candidate Adeola praises president, Abiodun, ex-govs, others

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to fairness and inclusiveness ahead of the general elections.
Mr Adeola (APC-Ogun West), in a thank you statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday after his emergence on Monday as the consensus candidate of APC in Ogun State, appreciated Mr Tinubu’s support and guidance in his political journey.
The chairman, senate committee on appropriation, described his emergence as a product of unity, equity and collective resolve within the party.
He stated, “I must specially thank President Tinubu for his mentorship, guidance and support in my political journey. He, alongside the First Lady, has always supported my aspirations over the years.”
He also appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun, ex-governor Olusegun Osoba and other APC stakeholders on his adoption as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state.
He said that the decision reflected a historic shift in favour of Ogun West senatorial district, which he noted had yet to produce a governor since the creation of the state.
“The governor stood by me when I crossed over from Lagos State to Ogun West as a senator and has always supported my development initiatives,” he said.
Mr Adeola acknowledged the role of former governor Olusegun Osoba for his guidance and counselling, describing him as instrumental to his aspiration.
He further appreciated former governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun for their support, noting that their contributions helped in achieving a widely accepted consensus within the party.
He commended the Ogun State APC executive, led by Yemisi Sanusi, for ensuring a peaceful and inclusive process, and praised fellow aspirants for demonstrating statesmanship.
“I sincerely thank all my co-aspirants for their understanding and commitment to the party’s consensus principle. There are no winners or losers. The APC family has emerged stronger and more united,” he said.
The senator called on party members and stakeholders across the state to unite and work towards electoral victories in the forthcoming general elections.
He also urged indigenes of Ogun State at home and in the diaspora, to embrace a collective vision for the state’s development.
He pledged to build on the achievements of previous administrations, while advancing new initiatives for the benefit of all residents of the state.
“In unity lies our strength and in our shared purpose, we will secure a brighter future for Ogun State,” he said.
