Cop injured as hoodlums rob bank customer in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed a robbery incident, involving a bank customer, who was tracked and forcibly robbed of a yet-to-be-ascertained substantial amount of money.
The command’s spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, in a statement on Monday, said the incident occurred at around 8:00am, along Secretariat Road, Agodi, in Ibadan.
“A bank depositor traveling in a metallic grey Nissan Primera with license plate number EPE 901 PS was tracked and forcibly robbed of a substantial, yet-to-be-ascertained amount of cash,” Mr Osifeso said.
The spokesman stated that the command’s initial investigations revealed that a police officer sustained severe injuries during a confrontation, which arose when his patrolling team engaged the suspects to halt their attack on the unsuspecting victims.
“There have been no reported fatalities, and the injured officer is currently receiving immediate medical attention at a secure healthcare facility,” the police stated.
The command urged community members, where the incident occurred, to assist the outfit with credible and timely information that could aid the arrest of the suspects.
