Corps member provides Katsina community with potable water

A Corps member serving in Katsina State, Hafsat Abdulhamid, has resuscitated three broken-down boreholes at Dandagoro community in Batagarawa Local Government Area of the state.
The boreholes, inaugurated on Sunday, had reportedly been out of service for over two years, forcing residents of the area to struggle to access potable water.
The gesture was part of the corps member’s Community Development Service (CDS).
The corps member reported that the community had been suffering from a lack of potable water for the past two years, as the boreholes provided by the government had broken down.
She explained that the only three boreholes serving Dandagoro and two nearby communities had become faulty, leaving the residents in hardship.
According to her, “I was so worried about the situation, especially where people of the communities trek a long distance to access potable water.
“Because of the lack of good drinking water, some children in the community were already suffering from some waterborne diseases.”
Ms Abdulhamid thanked the local government chairman, Bala Garba-Tsanni, for his magnanimity and readiness to provide solutions to the problems affecting his people.
She said the chairman did not hesitate to support the project when he saw her proposal, calling on other council chairmen to emulate Mr Garba-Tsanni.
Commissioning the project, Ibrahim Sa’idu, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) coordinator in the state, commended the corps member for her ingenuity in executing the project.
He called on all stakeholders to support corps members posted to their communities by sponsoring their CDS projects in those areas.
Stressing that the projects executed by corps members belong to the communities and will remain there, Mr Ibrahim encouraged the council chairman to continue his good work.
The village head of Dandagoro, Muttaka Magaji, said his people had suffered and endured untold hardship in their search for clean drinking water.
According to him, for the past two years, there had been no solution to their problem except empty promises from politicians.
He prayed fervently for the corps member, the NYSC, and Nigeria as a whole, thanking God for answering their prayers for potable drinking water.
