Court remands man over alleged possession of 5,000 molly tablets

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 56-year-old man, Ogbonna Udoye, in a correctional centre over alleged possession of 5,000 tablets suspected to be “molly.”
Mr Udoye was arraigned before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and unlawful possession of substances suspected to be molly.
Mr Udoye’s plea was not taken.
Mr Owolabi ordered that Mr Udoye be remanded and adjourned the case until November 2 for further proceedings.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that Mr Udoye and others still at large committed the offences on September 26 at about 10.00 a.m. on Adigbape Street in Lagos.
The prosecutor alleged that Mr Udoye and others conspired to commit felony, to wit, unlawful possession of substances suspected to be molly.
She alleged that Mr Udoye had 5,000 tablets suspected to be “molly” in his possession and could not give a satisfactory account of how he came by the substances.
According to her, the alleged offences contravened Sections 329 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
