A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse on Wednesday discharged a 20-year-old car washer, Patrick Yusuf, accused of alleged joint acts and extortion.

The Magistrate, Ekpeyong Inyang, discharged the defendant following an application filed by the Prosecution Counsel, Sunny Emmanuel, to withdraw the case.

“The first information report against the defendant is hereby struck out,” the magistrate held.

Earlier, Mr Emmanuel urged the court to strike out the matter because the nominal complainant, Aremu Lawal, was not interested in the matter.

The prosecution alleged that the complainant, a vigilance member of Jabi Motor Garage, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on September 11, 2025.

He said that the defendant and one Biliya, at large, snatched a travelling bag containing a Point of Sale (POS) terminal, iPhone, Android and universal chargers.

He said other items are three pieces of clothes, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

He noted that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 292 of the Penal Code.
