Court dissolves seven years marriage over lack of love, care

The magistrate ordered that the wife should observe one-month Iddah (waiting) period before she could remarry again.

An Area Court sitting at Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State, has dissolved the seven years Islamic marriage between Mukaila Zainab and AbdulJelil Suleiman over lack of love and care.

The presiding Judge, Toyin Aluko, while delivering ruling said that there was no need to prolong the case as the two parties had agreed to divorce.

Mr Aluko ordered that the wife should observe one-month Iddah (waiting) period before she could remarry again.

He adjourned the case until April 15, for defence of children custody.

The wife had earlier told the court that she wanted a divorce due to lack of love and care and wants custody of the two children in the marriage.

She also applied for N40, 000 monthly maintenance funds for the two children and that the man should be responsible for their school fees and medical expenses.

The respondent, agreed to the divorce, but refused to allow the woman have custody of the children.
