Court grants bail to three men accused of stealing goods worth N154 million

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting at Ogba, Lagos, on Tuesday granted three men bail for allegedly stealing truck conveying goods valued at N154 million.

The defendants, Shaibu Dantala (38), Ali Abu (44) and Yusuf Zakari (18), were arraigned on two-counts bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, said that the defendants committed the offence on November 10, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m. at Agbara, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendants stole a truck with registration number ABC 430 XM, conveying two 20-foot containers laden with contact adhesive gum valued at N154 million, property of one Dominic Peter.

Ikhayere said that the offences contravened Sections 280(1)(a)(b) and is punishable under Section 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, L. A. Owolabi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N5 million each with two responsible sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until February 11, for mention.
