Court remands 40-year-old man for stabbing co-tenant with knife

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of one Kelvin Titan, 40, at Agodi correctional facility over the alleged attempted murder of his neighbour.
Mr Titan is facing a lone charge bordering on attempted murder.
The magistrate, A. T. Oyediji, who did not take the defendant’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction, ordered his remand pending the issuance of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Ms Oyediji, thereafter, adjourned the matter till April 15 for mention.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp Opeyemi Olagunju, had told the court that Mr Titan, on March 9, at about 4:30 a.m., allegedly attempted to cause the death of a 44-year-old woman, Bolanle Ogunleye.
Mr Olagunju said the defendant allegedly stabbed her all over the body with a knife and a pair of scissors.
He said the offence was committed at No. 12, Heritage Estate, Sharp Corner, Oluyole Extension, Ibadan.
Mr Olagunju said the offence contravened Section 320 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2004.
