Court remands Ambode’s chef for theft, conspiracy

A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Sabo-Yaba, Lagos State, has remanded Victor Abayomi, the chef of a former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
Mr Abayomi was alleged to have stolen valuables worth millions at the former governor’s residence in Ikoyi.
He is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft.
At the court hearing on Monday, the Chief Magistrate, Peter Nwaka, ordered the remand of the defendant for 30 days in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.
The judge however adjourned the case until April 8, for investigation and presentation of facts.
The legal officer, Joshua Babalola, in the employment of the State Security Service informed the court that Mr Abayomi and some others still at large committed the offences.
According to him, the defendant absconded to Old Garage, Molorundo Local Government Area of Osun State, where he was arrested by the SSS on March 7.
Mr Babalola said the offence contravened sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
