He added that the defendant was arrested with a locally made, cut-to-size single-barrel gun and two live cartridges without a valid licence on March 19 between Iyaro and Urubi quarters in Benin City.

He stated, “At a gunpoint,  the defendant allegedly attacked and snatched  a Toyota Yaris vehicle with registration number BEN 770XF, belonging to Idemudia Luis Osarumen, and other PVC ceilings value yet to be ascertained.’’

He noted that the offences contravened Sections 3 (1), Section 6 (b)

According to him, the offence is punishable under Section 1 (1) (2) (a)

The persecutor, in motion exparte, cited relevant sections and urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre for initial period of 14 days pending the legal advice from the office of the state Director of Public Prosecution.

The presiding judge, Justice Williams Azeigbemhin, who ordered that the suspect be remanded in Benin correctional centre, adjourned the case until April 18, 2025.
