Court remands man, 52, over alleged attempted murder, impersonation

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday, ordered the remand of a 52-year-old man, Moyosore Johnson, in a correctional facility over an alleged attempted murder and impersonation.
Mr Johnson, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy, impersonation, attempted murder and wounding.
The Magistrate, Kausarat Ayofe, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.
Ayofe directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice and, thereafter, adjourned the case till December 5 for mention.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Toyin Ibrahim, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 5 at about 10.00 p.m. at Apata Igbala Hospital, off Iseyin/Saki road, Oyo State.
Ibrahim said that Johnson, with others at large, presented himself as a medical doctor and illegally carried out a major surgery on one Badirat Adebayo.
He said that the defendant attempted to kill Adebayo by removing her womb, which made her health deteriorate.
The prosecutor said that the dangerous act, which caused Adebayo to have a permanent injury, could lead to her death.
The offences, according to Ibrahim, contravene Sections 516, 484, 320 and 338 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
