Court remands man for allegedly defiling 16-year-old girl

A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 39-year-old man, Victor Kiere, for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl.
The Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, ordered that Kiere should be remanded in Awarjigoh Correctional Centre after he pleaded not guilty.
He ordered that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the office of the Director for Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice.
Mr Layeni adjourned the case until August 21 for ruling on the bail application and for DPP legal advice.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in April at 6.00.p.m, at Asheri Community Phase 2, Owode-Apa, Badagry, Lagos.
Mr Ekpo said that the defendant did have sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl without her consent.
He said, “He unlawfully penetrated sexually the vagina of a 16-year-old girl with his penis.’’
The offences contravened the provisions of Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
