Court remands man for allegedly defiling minor

An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday remanded a man, Chidi Gabriel, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.
The Lagos State Government arraigned Gabriel on a count charge of defilement.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Justice Rahman Oshodi, said, “The defendant shall be remanded at the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre where he is currently being held.’’
Mr Oshodi adjourned the case until May 7 for the commencement of trial.
The State Counsel, Bukola Okeowo, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on June 23, 2020 in Okokomaiko Junction, Alaba in Lagos.
Ms Okeowo alleged that the defendant unlawfully had sexual intercourse with the minor by inserting his manhood into her vagina.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
