Court remands man for stealing palm oil

The Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday remanded a 40-year-old man, Mojeed Adigun, in a correctional centre for stealing 50 litres of palm oil worth N128,000.
The magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, remanded Mr Adigun after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of stealing.
Mr Layeni adjourned the case until October 23 for facts and sentencing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 25 at 8:30 a.m. at Agbalata market, Badagry.
Mr Ekpo said the defendant stole the palm oil belonging to the complainant, Zosu Yemi.
He said the defendant was caught by passersby and handed over to the police.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
