Court remands man over rape of neighbour’s physically challenged daughter

The Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Friday remanded a 43-year-old man, Ifeanyi Paul, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly raping his neighbour’s 16-year-old physically challenged daughter.
The chief magistrate, L.A Owolabi, who did not take Mr Paul’s plea, ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Mr Owolabi adjourned the case until October 22 for DPP advice.
Mr Paul, who resides at 38, Adetoro St. in the Ikotun area of Lagos, is charged with rape.
Earlier, the prosecutor counsel, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the suspect committed the offence on July 24 at his residence.
The prosecutor said Mr Paul, who took advantage of the girl, was apprehended by some neigbours and handed over to the police.
Mr Ademigbuji said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
