Court sentences man to prison for stealing phones, T-shirt

The Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Friday, sentenced one Abeeb Isiaka, 22, to nine months’ imprisonment for stealing tablet phones and T-shirts.
Mr Isiaka, whose address was not provided, was charged with house entering and stealing, to which he pleaded guilty.
The magistrate, Oluwabusayo Osho, therefore, sentenced him to nine months’ imprisonment without an option of a fine.
The prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on September 11 at about 6:30 a.m. in the Akano Olunde area of Ibadan.
He said the defendant entered the house of one Adebayo Olajide and stole his two Apple tablet phones worth N800,000 and four T-shirts worth N20,000.
Mr Folaranmi added that Mr Isiaka was an apprentice to the complainant’s (Olajide’s) elder brother and was living with them in the house.
He said the convict used that opportunity to enter the complainant’s room and made away with the aforementioned items.
The prosecutor told the court that the convict was apprehended days after he committed the offence, while he had sold the items to an unknown person.
He said the offences contravene Sections 414 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
