COVID-19: Bauchi begins phase two vaccination with 100,296 dosage

Phase two of the COVID-19 vaccination exercise in Bauchi has been inaugurated by the state government with 100,296 vaccines across the 20 local government areas of the state.
Baba Tela, Bauchi deputy governor and chairman of the Task Force Committee on COVID-19, said the state received the vaccines from the U.S. government.
At the inauguration exercise, Mr Tela said the state government was waiting to receive other vaccines from Pfizer and Johnson Johnson to complement the ones already received from the U.S.
“This time around, the vaccination is for the general public.
We don’t have any target for everyone, it is for everybody that has attained the age of 18 and above.
“We are also urging the general public to come out and be administered with the vaccines for their safety and protection; we would not relent in persuading those resisting the vaccines,” he said.
According to Mr Tela, “the vaccines will be taken to every nook and cranny of the remote areas of the state,” while the committee scales up risk communication activities to create more awareness on the dangers of the public not accepting the vaccines.
The state vaccinated 67,191 individuals during the first phase of the vaccination, making Bauchi one of the best states in the coverage of the vaccination exercise against the pandemic.
