COVID-19: Only face masks can save us for now: Biden

President-elect Joe Biden has called on Americans to unite for the purpose of combating the crisis that has sharply divided the nation, particularly the coronavirus pandemic.
Addressing Americans Monday evening, Mr. Biden said it was imperative for Americans to heed experts’ advice on the prevention of the plague irrespective of their belief or political leanings.
“It’s time to stop the politicisation of a basic responsible public health step like mask wearing and social distancing,” Mr. Biden said in a broadcast monitored by Peoples Gazette via CNN. “We have to come together to heal the soul of this country so that we can effectively address this crisis as one country where hardworking Americans have each other’s back.”
Since his election last Saturday, the former Vice President has been making conciliatory remarks in an apparent effort to re-unite a sharply people just coming to grasp with what has been described as a most divisive election in recent history.
Mr. Biden wants Americans to know that based on the recommendation of the CDC, wearing a mask remains “the most potent weapon against the virus” for the foreseeable future.
Mr. Biden had earlier announced a COVID-19 task force made up of experts. He said the team would be consulting with state and local health officials to know the best way to tackle the pandemic.
“Dealing with the coronavirus pandemic is one of the most important battles our administration will face, and I will be informed by science and by experts,” Mr. Biden said.
