The commissioner of police, Borno command, Naziru Abdulmajid, has directed tactical commanders and divisional police officers in the state to maintain heightened vigilance and strengthen security operations.

Nahum Daso, the command’s spokesperson, made this known in a statement issued on Friday in Maiduguri.

Mr Daso said the directive followed a strategic security meeting convened by the commissioner with tactical commanders, area commanders and divisional police officers across the state to review the prevailing security situation.

According to him, the CP charged the senior officers to sustain operational alertness, professionalism and proactive policing in their respective areas of responsibility.

“The commissioner emphasised the need for enhanced intelligence gathering and effective deployment of personnel to forestall any threat to public safety,” Mr Daso said.

He added that Mr Abdulmajid also directed the reinforcement of police formations, particularly those located in remote communities and local government areas, with additional logistics and operational resources.

Mr Daso said the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, would also commence joint show-of-force operations and intensified visibility policing across strategic locations in the state.

“The CP reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and urged members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding,” the spokesperson said.

He also cautioned residents against spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic or tension in the state.

Mr Daso said the command would continue to work closely with other security agencies, community leaders and stakeholders to sustain peace and security across the state.
