Kenya’s Shujaa has defeated Nigeria Stallions and Zimbabwe, 60 – 0 and 26 – 5 respectively, in Africa’s leading Rugby tournament, Safari Sevens.

After Branson Madigu and Timothy Mmasi each scored a brace against the Nigerian squad, Levy Amunga converted with pinpoint accuracy to take the hosts to a convincing victory.

Shujaa also defeated the courageous Zimbabweans with two tries from Johnstone Olindi, one apiece from skipper Herman Humwa and Alvin Marube.
Despite reaching the quarterfinals, head coach Innocent Simiyu criticised his players for losing a 12-0 lead against Germany, who defeated them 14-12.
“We lacked composure against the Germans. We played off the script. We were a bit cocky with the ball and they punished us,” Simiyu told Standard Sports, a Kenyan gazette.

“I think we should have gone 17 points clear after taking the lead, but again it was a good lesson for the young players I have in the team,” he said.
