The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 area command, has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing synergy with other sister agencies and stakeholders for effective border operations.

Godwin Otunla, the area comptroller of NCS, stated this on Thursday in Idiroko.

Mr Otunla explained that security was a collective responsibility, as the collaborative efforts of other sister agencies, traditional rulers, local informants, community leaders and youths were important in tackling smuggling along the border.

“The Ogun 1 area command reiterates its commitment to combating any threat to the economic and security interests of the country,” he said.

The area comptroller appealed to the public to provide useful information that can help in the fight against smuggling activities at the border.

Mr Otunla assured the public that the command would encourage legal trade to enhance the nation’s revenue drive.
