The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it generated more than N1.42 trillion in revenue in September and October, while recording $752.8 million in exports in the third quarter of 2026.

The national public relations officer of the NCS, Abdullahi Maiwada, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja during a briefing by public relations officers of security agencies.

The briefing was organised by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

Mr Maiwada said the performance reflected sustained efforts in trade facilitation, revenue generation, border security and the protection of national economic interests under its Comptroller-General, Bashir Adeniyi.

He said the service processed 99,839 Single Goods Declarations and 9,195 Pre-Arrival Assessment Reports during the period under review.

According to him, the service generated N722.9 billion in August, while September accounted for N697.8 billion.

Mr Maiwada also disclosed that export performance at the Lilypond Export Command reached $752.8 million in the third quarter of 2026.

He said the figure represented a 22.14 per cent increase compared with the corresponding period in 2025.

“Manufactured goods accounted for $402.5 million, while agricultural produce contributed $311 million.

“Export activities also generated N90.02 million in export surcharges and more than N517 million through the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme,” he said.

On anti-smuggling operations, Mr Maiwada said interceptions with a combined duty-paid value exceeding N8.1 billion were recorded.

The operations, according to him, targeted transnational criminal networks, including through seizures of multi-billion-naira narcotics shipments.

He added that petroleum enforcement operations led to the interception of smuggled premium motor spirit and tanker trucks conveying automotive gas oil illegally.

“The seized petroleum products and narcotics were handed over to relevant agencies, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority,” he added.

The NCS spokesperson said it had also strengthened its anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism framework.

He revealed that the service inaugurated the World Customs Organisation Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism Mentoring Mission in Abuja.

He added that the NCS had also established intelligence-sharing partnerships with six institutions, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit and National Counter-Terrorism Centre.

Mr Maiwada said the initiative supported the transition from manual currency declarations to electronic tracking.

On environmental protection, he said two intelligence-led operations in Ogun rescued six live endangered pangolins from traffickers.

“The animals were handed over to the Green Fingers Wildlife Conservation Initiative for rehabilitation in line with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

“The interventions demonstrate a commitment to protecting the national economy, strengthening border security and combating wildlife trafficking,” he said.
