The Chairman of Danburam Football Academy,  Muhammad Daha, has been commended for his outstanding contributions to youths development and football talents discovery across Northern Nigeria.

Speaking on Saturday during an interactive session with sports stakeholders in Daura, the academy’s chairman said the institution was founded with the vision of empowering young people through football and education, thereby reducing youths restiveness and unemployment in the region.

He said that since its establishment, the academy had produced remarkable football talents, with more than 10 players currently playing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), while four others were pursuing professional football careers abroad.

According to him, the academy had also focused on improving the welfare and long-term stability of its players, adding that over 20 players had secured Federal Government jobs through the academy’s support and mentorship programmes.

The chairman also highlighted the academy’s recent impressive sporting performances, stating that the team held Kada Warriors to a draw and, within less than a week and thrashed Barau FC 4-0 at the Umar Farouk Stadium in Daura.

He described the achievements as the evidence of the academy’s commitment to quality training, discipline and grassroots football development.

“We believe football is not just about talents development but also about building responsible citizens and creating sustainable livelihoods for young people,” he said.

The chairman expressed appreciation to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari for recognising his contributions to football development by appointing him into the 21-man committee for the development of football in Nigeria.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu for his continued support towards grassroots sports development, stating that the present administration’s commitment had encouraged private football academies to expand their youths development initiatives.

The chairman reaffirmed the academy’s commitment to discovering and nurturing more football talents, while promoting discipline, education and career opportunities for young people across Northern Nigeria.

He called on government agencies, private organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to support grassroots sports development as a strategic tool for national growth and youths empowerment.
