Dapo Abiodun missing as Osinbajo, Sanwo-Olu, Daniel lead Awujale’s burial

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun was absent at the burial rites for the late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, on Monday evening.
Mr Adetona, who passed away on Sunday at 91, was buried according to Islamic rites at his Igbeba residence, with former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Governor Gbenga Daniel, and other dignitaries in attendance.
Also present at the burial were Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Olatubunkun Talabi.
The duo was said to have represented the governor and led other members of the State Executive Council to the burial rites, attended by dignitaries and personalities.
Mr Abiodun, who had not been on speaking terms with the late monarch until he died, was reportedly at his Iperu residence while the burial procession was going on.
Several sources confirmed that the governor had opposed the late Awujale, who was one of those who championed the creation of Ijebu state from Ogun.
Mr Talabi was not immediately available for comments when contacted by Peoples Gazette, as he did not respond to messages.
Mr Abiodun had confirmed the demise of Mr Adetona in a statement posted on social media on Sunday.
