David ‘Davido’ Adeleke has opposed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, describing the All Progressives Congress as “ruthless and disgusting”.

The Afrobeats singer alleged that APC supporters’ violence targeting Accord Party members and sympathisers led to the death of several people in Osun.

“I can never support APC in my life!” Davido, who is Mr Adeleke’s nephew, vowed.

Mr Adeleke (Accord Party) beat APC’s Bola Oyebamiji in Saturday’s governorship election to a second four-year term in office. It was a fierce contest in the build-up to the poll with allegations and counter-allegations of violent killings by both parties and then-candidates.

“Y’all kept it bloody n lost! Pple died! F**k yall!!,” Davido said on Sunday, replying to a tweet by an APC supporter who restated his loyalty to Mr Oyebamiji after his loss.

Davido added, “I brought no one! No one defended me! I backed my family on my own!! You guys r ruthless n disgusting! I have done my job! Nigerian politics is evil and I don’t want to be a part of it till God help us!”

However, Mr Adeleke has reaffirmed support for Mr Tinubu, canvassing votes for his re-election. The Osun governor, on Sunday, thanked Mr Tinubu for ensuring the Osun poll was free and credible.

“At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election.

“Mr President is a son of Osun state, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election,” Mr Adeleke said on Sunday after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared him winner Sunday morning.

“No more supporting any presidential candidate. @AAdeleke_01 Make we dey our dey,” said Davido, a statement apparently directed at his uncle.
