Davnotch Open will discover new tennis talents: NTF

Dayo Akindoju, president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), says the 2022 Davnotch National Open championship will be an avenue to discover new tennis talents for the country.
Akindoju stated this ahead of the start of the second edition of the tournament on Thursday that the aim was to discover, expose and nurture budding talents.
He said the competition, which serves off at the ‘Package B’, National Tennis Centre of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, would run from Thursday to May 14.
The tennis boss assured that this year’s edition would witness improved organisation and quality of play in line with international best practices.
“I can assure you that this year’s edition will witness the best of technical and tactical exhibitions, thereby showcasing the improving standard of tennis in Nigeria,” he stressed. “We have put in place all necessary arrangements to ensure the players, officials and even spectators have a great competition.”
Akindoju also disclosed that arrangements had been put in place to ensure gender parity in the distribution of prizes amongst winners in the various categories of the tourney.
He commended the sponsors of the competition for sustaining the sponsorship, stressing that the tourney will help in the grassroots development of the sport.
The NTF boss called on other corporate organisations to show more support in terms of sponsorship for the development of tennis in the country.
