Less than two weeks after killing over 50 people, bandits, in another raid on Kastina, former President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state, killed 27 on Thursday.

The Nigerian police confirmed the killing of 27 persons in the Dutsima Local government area to Peoples Gazette on Friday.

“Yes, there was an incident in Dutsima where about 27 persons were shot dead,” Abubakar Sidiq Aliyu, Katsina police spokesperson, told The Gazette on Friday.

“We are doing everything in our power to arrest the perpetrators and prevent further occurrence,” he added.

This comes as another episode in a series of bandits attacks on Katsina and other states under the watch of President Bola Tinubu.

On May 27, The Gazette reported bandits killing over 50 persons across communities in Katsina State.

Lamenting incessant killings in the country, Amnesty International, in a tweet on Thursday, said Nigeria is increasingly failing to secure the lives of its citizens.

Nigeria is increasingly failing to protect its people,” Amnesty International said. “From December last year to February this year, 1,336 people were killed in Plateau State. Hundreds have also been killed in Benue, Zamfara and Katsina.”

However, like Mr Buhari, whose home state now witnesses incessant attacks from bandits, Mr Tinubu’s government has continued to claim victory over terrorists and terrorism.
