Defence minister to chair maiden private security conference

The Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, will chair the Nigeria Private Security Conference (NPSC) 2026, organisers have said.
The conference, themed “Building a modern security ecosystem: Integrating private sector capacity into Nigeria’s national security architecture,” is scheduled for June 13 in Abuja.
According to the organisers, the event is designed to bring together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including government officials, security agencies, private sector operators, investors and international delegates.
In a letter dated May 20 and signed by Group Capt. MK Nanle on behalf of the minister, Mr Musa described the conference as a structured national platform aimed at fostering collaboration among government, defence, intelligence, private sector and technology stakeholders.
He affirmed his acceptance to chair the conference and expressed the ministry’s readiness to work with the organisers to ensure its success.
The convener of the conference, Charles Awuzie, commended the minister for supporting the initiative, noting that his participation underscored a commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security framework.
Mr Awuzie said the conference would bring together top decision-makers, including state governors and national security leaders, to drive policy discussions and partnerships.
He added that the event would also feature exhibitions aimed at connecting participants to commercial opportunities within the security sector.
According to him, the conference seeks to promote community-based security systems supported by technology and regulation, stimulate job creation in the private security industry and advance reforms to enhance safety nationwide.
