Baruwa, who is facing a two-count charge of alleged breach of peace and unlawful assault, pleaded not guilty.

Consequently, the court’s President, S.M. Akintayo admitted the defendant to N50,000 bail and with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Akintayo added that the sureties must each show evidence of possessing a valid National identification card in addition to being gainfully employed.

Thereafter, she adjourned the suit until July 8 for hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, Inspector Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on June 2, on the premises of UCH, Ibadan.

According to Ayeni, the defendant gave Opeyemi Jimoh a dirty slap on his face while he was performing his lawful duty.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Section 249 and 351 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State 2000.
