Delta governor, Oborevwori, others dump PDP for APC

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, confirmed the development after a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday.
Mr Ahon said, “His excellency took the decision after wide consultations with political stakeholders and in the interest of Delta’s long-term development.’’
Peoples Gazette gathered that Mr Oborevwori defected to the APC alongside several party’s stakeholders in the state including a former governor of the state, Ifeanyi Okowa.
The development came amid a seemingly unresolvable crisis in the PDP and political watchers believe the move could potentially undermine the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
Mr Oborevwori took over from Mr Okowa who ran alongside a former vice president Atiku Abubakar to challenge Bola Tinubu of the ruling APC in the 2023 presidential election.
