The wife of Delta State governor, Tobore Oborevwori, has urged newly elected women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use their positions to promote peace, unity, and development across the state.

Mr Oborevwori, founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, gave the advice on Wednesday while hosting the party’s state women executives at the Government House, Asaba.

She stressed that sustaining peace and unity is critical to the continued progress and stability of the state.

Mrs Oborevwori encouraged the leaders to see their new roles as opportunities to foster harmony in their communities.

The governor’s wife also advised the women to maintain a balanced lifestyle in order to succeed in leadership and public service.

According to her, effective political leadership begins with a stable and peaceful home.

Mrs Oborevwori reminded the delegation that family responsibilities should always take precedence over political ambitions, noting that while politics is temporary, family remains permanent and must be protected.

She also highlighted the mission of her foundation, describing it as a humanitarian initiative focused on compassion and service to vulnerable groups.

Mrs Oborevwori called on the women leaders to work closely with party stakeholders to ensure that residents across the state benefit from the dividends of democracy. She commended the group for donating N2.5 million to support the foundation’s humanitarian programmes.

Earlier, the APC state women leader, Ifeyinwa Sobotie, said the visit was to congratulate the governor’s wife and reaffirm the group’s readiness to work with her.

Ms Sobotie added that the women were committed to supporting programmes that would advance the developmental agenda of the state government and improve the welfare of women and families.

In a related development, the governor’s wife also hosted members of Delta Ijaw Women in Politics.

She praised the group for their resilience and continued participation in politics despite the challenges often faced by women in the political space.

Mrs Oborevwori said their involvement in politics demonstrated a commitment to making a lasting impact rather than pursuing personal ambition.

The leader of the delegation, Patricia Asiyei, said the visit was to express solidarity with the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

She noted that the group remained committed to mobilising grassroots support for the government’s policies and programmes across the state.
