Delta police officers caught extorting N51,000, using POS terminal inside station arrested: CP
Aina Adesola, the police commissioner in Delta, has ordered the detention of officers from the ‘C’ Division in Asaba for engaging a point-of-sale operator at the station to extort accused persons.
A video shared on X on Wednesday showed a victim secretly recording as officers called in the POS operator to transfer N51,500 to the Moniepoint account number 5203443664, belonging to Sunday Racheal Kewe.
Command spokesperson, Bright Edafe, in response to the video, said the errant officers would appear before the police commissioner on Thursday.
“This is quite unfortunate, and any policeman who does this will definitely dance to the music,” the police spokesman stated. “The CP has ordered their detention, and they are to appear before the CP tomorrow. Thanks for bringing this to us. Nagode.”
