A school teacher at Erimu School, Abraka, Delta State, Ezeugo Joseph, has died after he was beaten to death by one of his students on Thursday.

Peoples Gazette learnt that the SS3 student, whose name was given as Micheal Ogbeise attacked the teacher for flogging his younger sister, Promise.

Michael landed a heavy blow on Mr Ezeugo’s face and he fell unconscious, a friend of the slain teacher, who does not want his name in print, told The Gazette.

Mr Ezeugo was later rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead, the source added.

“The entire student and family members are in the wind. I gathered that the mother of the suspect sells foodstuffs at the big market. I hope the authorities will do the needful,” the source said.

Confirming the incident, spokesman for the Delta State police command, DSP Bright Edafe, assured that justice would be done.

”The suspect confronted the teacher because he flogged his younger sister. He blew the teacher, beating him up and the teacher collapsed. The teacher was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead,” Mr Edafe confirmed.

DSP Edafe added the suspect and his parents are currently on the run as they have all fled their apartment while the sister, Promise, is currently in protective custody.
