Determined Rwanda thrash Ghana 122 runs

Rwanda’s women’s cricket team defeated Ghana on Friday, securing a comprehensive victory at the ongoing Nigeria Fifth Women’s Invitational T20i in Lagos.
The match was played at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Cricket Oval.
Rwanda set the tone early, producing a commanding batting display to post 210 for three in their allotted 20 overs.
They combined aggressive stroke play with disciplined shot selection, placing Ghana’s bowlers under sustained pressure throughout the innings.
Their ability to rotate strike and exploit scoring opportunities ensured a high run rate from start to finish.
Ghana struggled against Rwanda’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding, finding it difficult to build momentum.
Despite brief resistance, they failed to form meaningful partnerships, finishing on 88 for eight in their 20 overs.
Rwanda’s bowlers maintained tight lines and lengths, restricting scoring chances and claiming wickets at regular intervals.
The emphatic 122-run win underlines Rwanda’s strength and preparation, sending a strong message to other teams.
The result places Rwanda in a favourable position, while Ghana will seek improvement in subsequent matches.
The fifth edition is titled,”The Patricia Kambarami Cup.”
A former International Cricket Council Africa Development Manager, Patricia Kambarami, died in 2024.
She was affectionately called “Mama Africa” for her dedication to cricket development across the continent.
The Nigeria Women’s Invitational T20i aims to provide greater exposure and competition for women’s teams across Africa.
This forms part of broader efforts by the federation to develop and strengthen the game in the region.
