Ghana’s gross domestic product grew by six per cent in the second quarter of 2026, driven largely by the digital economy.

TV BRICS reported on Thursday that the information and communication technology sector recorded a 30.9 per cent year-on-year growth in the period under review, up from 21.3 per cent recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2026.

A representative of the Ghana Statistical Service said the country’s real output of goods and services stood at ₵51.3 billion, equivalent to about $4.48 billion, in the second quarter.

This was higher than the ₵48.4 billion, or about $4.22 billion, recorded in the second quarter of 2025.

The report said growth in the services sector continued to strengthen, with ICT emerging as a major contributor.

It added that the ICT segment had maintained steady growth over the past three years.
