Nigeria medal hopeful Divine Oduduru has unfortunately failed to qualify for the men’s 200m finals, after coming third in semi-final heat 1.

Oduduru, who finished second position during the first round to qualify for the semifinals, lost his chance of competing in the final heat event in Tokyo, as he returned a time of 20.16s.

17-year-old American Erriyon Knighton came first after completing the race in 20.02s while Rasheed Dwyer of Jamaica came second after completing in 20.13s.

Despite his obvious efforts to complete the race with outstanding timing at the beginning, the athlete approached the homestretch looking visibly exhausted.

The finalists will compete at the 200 meters finals on August 4, 2021 in Tokyo.
