Doctors confirm injured Anthony Joshua is stable, doesn’t require emergency medical intervention

Doctors have confirmed that British-Nigerian two-time unified world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, who on Monday, survived a car crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, is in a stable condition and will not require emergency medical intervention.

This was disclosed in a joint statement by Lagos State commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotosho and Kayode Akinmade, the special adviser to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on information.

According to both state governments, the athlete and one other passenger who survived the accident that killed two fellow passengers, are still under close monitoring in a hospital in Lagos, while investigation into the crash is still ongoing.

It read, “Anthony Joshua and another passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised medical facility in Lagos. Following comprehensive clinical assessments, doctors have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency medical intervention at this time. 

“A full medical team has been assembled and will continue to monitor them closely. Anthony Joshua is conscious and has been in communication with his family.

“The Governments of Ogun and Lagos States are closely monitoring the situation and will ensure that the affected persons receive the best possible medical care. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident have also commenced.”

The government officials explained that a vehicle conveying a team of four, collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the two fatalities.
