Don’t allow politicians ‘use and dump you,’ NSCDC warns its personnel

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has tasked it’s personnel in Anambra deployed for the forthcoming election to be civil and security conscious while performing their duties.
Isdore Chikere, Anambra Commandant of the NSCDC, gave the advice in an interview on Tuesday in Awka.
Mr Chikere, who spoke on the readiness of the Corps for the election, advised the personnel to be conscious of their security and to remain apolitical while performing their duties.
“Don’t allow anyone especially politicians to use you for their inordinate ambition because if they put you in trouble, they will abandon you and run away,” Mr Chikere said.
He added that “in the event of any form of unruly conduct, I advise that the best of professional measures be implored to manage the situation.”
The commandant said series of trainings have been held for the 1,977 personnel deployed for the February 25 presidential and national assembly elections.
He urged residents to cooperate with security operatives to ensure peaceful elections in the state.
Mr Chikere said a joint team of Army, Police, Navy, NSCDC and para-military personnel are working closely to ensure adequate security before, during and after the elections in the state.
“As I speak with you, the joint security operatives are moving round the state in a bid to assure residents that the environment is secure and safe for them to come out and exercise their civic duties,” he added.
