A Nigerian national in the U.S. Army, identified as Uzoamaka, pleaded with President Donald Trump to grant her critically ill daughter a visa for treatment.

Speaking while in tears, Ms Uzoamaka, in the video posted on Instagram, @ada_amakassy9, on Sunday, said it is difficult to get quality healthcare in Nigeria, and as each day passes, her fear of losing her daughter intensifies.

The U.S. soldier said all the paperwork and requirements have been completed but Mr Trump’s visa policy has hindered her daughter from being brought to the U.S.

Ms Uzoamaka said she does not want her daughter to die while she lives in a country with quality healthcare.

She said, “I’ve been separated from my daughter for 10 years now, who remains in Nigeria. She has completed all the required U.S. immigration processes but because of your current visa ban, she is unable to join me. 

“During this whole process of waiting, my daughter fell critically ill and needs medical care, which is very difficult to get that quality care in Nigeria. Every day that passes increases my fear that I might lose her before having the chance to hold my daughter again and reunite with her.

“I have all the paperwork to prove it, medical reports. This is just a mother fighting for her daughter to live and survive. How can I be in a country like this that offers one of the quality healthcare, and let my daughter die?”

Stating that she respects the national security importance of Mr Trump’s U.S. immigration laws, she urged the president to make an exception for her and others in similar situation, and allow her daughter get her treatment in the U.S.

“My plea right now is not about politics but a humanitarian, compassionate one that you should review carefully and consider. I’m simply asking that there should be an exception for me and for people who fall into this category. I am a citizen of America, dear Mr President, please help me reunite with my daughter,” she said.

She also disclosed that before deciding to speak out on social media, she had reached out to her commanders, media houses and Senator Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota, who she said “tried her best”, adding that she can’t travel to Nigeria because of the security threat tagged on Nigeria by the U.S. 

She said, “Please, Mr President, if you’re seeing this video, do not make my heart break, do not give me this heartache anymore. I want my daughter to be issued visa and come join me to get the treatment that she deserves.

“I cannot go back home because of the security threat tagged on Nigeria, my kids are barely minors, they do not pose any security threat to the United States of America. You can look me up, my kids are not going to come here to become criminals. Please, I need my kids, my daughter, this is the only way I know I can fight for her.

“I’ve tried to reach out to CNN, Fox News, I’ve written all kinds of emails to the editorial team, but nobody has gotten back to me. I’m begging of you. As of today, my daughter’s illness is so critical, I’m losing my mind. Please, look into this policy, grant my daughter a visa, I beg of you, even if it means just one of them. Grant my first daughter visa request.”
