Doyin Okupe, Peter Obi’s former ally, dies at 72

He died on Friday. Mr Okupe was 72.

Doyin Okupe, former presidential spokesman and estranged ally of Peter Obi, is dead.

He died on Friday. Mr Okupe was 72.

Prior to his demise, the politician had a colourful, often controversial, political career.

He was former President Goodluck Jonathan’s spokesman and an ex-member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In the 2023 presidential election, Mr Okupe sided with Mr Obi, a former Anambra governor by joining the Labour Party.
