Dozens killed in bus transporting schoolchildren in Cape Verde

At least 25 people were killed in a road crash in the African island nation of Cape Verde.
The crash occurred on Saturday. The bus was transporting schoolchildren from Curral Grande and Ponta Verde on a field trip.
While seven bodies were immediately buried due to their condition, 19 others were injured and taken to the hospital.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the crash.
Cape Verde President José Neves described the crash as a major catastrophe.
“I offer my condolences to the bereaved families, to the friends of the victims, and to the island of Fogo. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured. My friendship and solidarity with all those involved in this tragic accident,” Mr Neves stated.
The president also announced two-day national mourning for the victims.
