Driver arrested for killing housewife, reckless driving
A 26-year-old driver, Samson Ifeoluwa, was on Friday docked in the Isabo Magistrates’ Court, Abeokuta, for driving recklessly, causing the death of a housewife.
The police charged Mr Ifeoluwa, of no fixed address, with reckless driving and causing the untimely death of a person.
The prosecution counsel, Lawrence Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 21 at about 9:00 a.m. in Idi-Ori along Abeokuta/ Lagos Expressway in Abeokuta.
Mr Balogun explained that the defendant drove a vehicle with registration number OGUN AKM 3O9- YG recklessly and dangerously, causing the untimely death of Kehinde Adepegba, 47.
The offence. he said, contravened the sections 18 RTL Vol4 Laws of Ogun,2006 and 5, of the Federal Highway Act Cap F13 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, Dehinde Dipeolu, admitted the defendant to bail in N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate ordered that one of the sureties must have a property located in Abeokuta with C of O and show evidence of two years of tax payment.
He adjourned the case until January 20, 2021, for trial.
