Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau has urged Christians to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, sacrifice and reconciliation as Christians celebrate Easter globally.

The governor made the call in his Easter message issued by his spokesperson, Makut Macham, on Sunday in Jos.

He said the virtues were bequeathed to mankind by Jesus Christ as a result of his death, burial and resurrection.

Mr Lalong said that through his death and resurrection, Jesus Christ had demonstrated selflessness and redeemed humanity from condemnation and chaos, giving hope and optimism for a good life on earth and in eternity.

He congratulated Christians for witnessing the commemoration of another Easter, which brought salvation to mankind.

The governor expressed delight that God has continued to preserve Nigerians and has demonstrated his love and compassion for the nation’s peace, unity and progress.

He said that this year’s Easter is being marked when the nation is undergoing a democratic transition.

Mr Lalong added that the situation called for more love and resolve to eschew bitterness and anger towards building a greater country.

He wished the Christian faithful a fruitful celebration.
