Easter: Oyebanji felicitates Christians, urges peace, harmony

Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has felicitated Christians on Easter and called for peace and unity in the state.
The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, on Saturday in Ado- Ekiti, described the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the greatest sacrifice for the redemption of mankind.
“The significance of Easter should be cherished by all. I urge Christians to emulate the virtues of humility, love, perseverance, and compassion exemplified by Christ.
“I also beseech the residents of Ekiti, and Nigerians in general, to use this period to seek God’s face for peace, progress, and prosperity in the state and the country,” he said.
The governor also solicited prayers for the peaceful and successful conduct of the June 20 governorship election in the state.
He urged all governorship candidates, political leaders, and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and in an orderly manner before, during, and after the election.
Mr Oyebanji said the interest of Ekiti must supersede all personal and partisan considerations.
He commended Christians in the state for their continued support for his administration and urged them to live in peace and harmony with people of other faiths.
The governor added that good friendship, selflessness, and patience are among the core lessons of the Christian faith.
He reiterated the need for Nigerians to reflect on the lessons of Easter by promoting love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence in their communities.
