The police command in Osun, on Thursday, assured residents of adequate security during and after the Easter celebration in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said in a statement that the command had put in place comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of lives and property during the celebration.

“Strategic deployment of personnel has been carried out to churches, recreational centres, major highways, and other public places to prevent any breach of peace and to guarantee a hitch-free celebration,” he said.

Mr Ojelabi said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, had directed all area commanders, divisional police officers, and tactical units to intensify visibility policing, intelligence gathering, and patrol operations throughout the festive period.

He said officers had also been instructed to maintain a high level of professionalism and civility while discharging their duties.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.

He also called on parents and guardians to monitor their wards and discourage any form of unlawful behaviour, reiterating the command’s commitment to safeguarding the state.
