Easter: Police boost security in Ogun

The police command in Ogun says it has intensified security measures to ensure a peaceful and safe Easter celebration across the state.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abeokuta by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.
He said the action followed a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to strengthen security during the festive period.
According to him, patrols have been reinforced along major highways and strategic locations to protect lives and property, and deter criminal activities.
Babaseyi added that a joint show of force was conducted with other security agencies, deploying patrol vehicles, tactical teams, and intelligence assets.
“The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered massive deployment of personnel for traffic control and other operational duties.
“These operations will continue throughout and beyond the celebrations, as residents are urged to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with security personnel,” Mr Babaseyi said.
He added that the command would sustain synergy with all security agencies for effective coverage and rapid response.
The spokesperson urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with security personnel during the festive period.
He encouraged the public to report suspicious activities through emergency lines, including the Gateway Shield toll-free line, 0800 000 9111.
