ECN DG excited over inauguration of solar energy society

The Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) says strengthening professional energy bodies will significantly accelerate the deployment of solar solutions across public institutions nationwide.
The Director-General of ECN, Mustapha Abdullahi, said this in Abuja during the official inauguration of the governing body and fellowship conferment of the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN) on Thursday.
He said, “Today’s ceremony reflects SESN’s commitment to promoting excellence, professionalism, and the advancement of solar and renewable energy development in our dear nation, Nigeria.
”Through initiatives such as the Renewed Hope Solarisation Programme, significant progress has been made in deploying decentralised solar energy solutions to critical infrastructures nationwide.
”As a proud Fellow of the Society and as the DG of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, I reaffirm the commitment of the commission to strengthening collaboration with the Society.”
The President of SESN, Sunny Akpoyibo, noted that the newly inaugurated leadership structures would drive policy into measurable impacts to tackle the country’s energy transition challenges.
Mr Akpoyibo said that his administration would prioritise aggressive youth empowerment and digital structural reforms to reposition the society as a leading force in sub-Saharan Africa.
”Your wisdom and experience will be crucial as we navigate Nigeria’s energy transition and expand the frontier of solar innovations and adaptation.
”My administration will put the youth at the forefront because we must pass over the knowledge we have to the next generation through capacity-building programmes.
”Together, our trustees will provide direction, our patrons will inspire, and our subcommittees will drive implementation to solve Nigeria’s energy challenges,” he said.
